After over 5 years of research and implementation topics like SX Tan Trieu grapefruit sugar orange leaves ( Dong Nai ) by irradiation technology of nuclear energy in order to create new seedless varieties have obtained positive results .

 

KN - Sun Dong Nai Department said , to get three varieties of seedless grapefruit , scientists have put 1,000 orange-leaved branches disease up nuclear reactor in Da Lat irradiation by radioactive cobalt 60 source .

 

After irradiation , 1,000 branches were grafted with grapefruit 1,000 mothers from the Tan Trieu pomelo to select the best varieties Vietnam , at least bead . From 1,000 trees , the team has selected three varieties of seedless fruits include : DLC240 , DLC434 and DLC436 . Institute Dalat Nuclear Research said that the line Tan Trieu pomelo orange leaves road is a fruit branded .

 

Earlier, people only develop the Tan Trieu grapefruit on a small scale , in the form of households with an area of ​​about 200 ha . However, so far this place has developed into the grapefruit concentrate almost 900 hectares in the area of ​​8 riverside villages of Vinh Cuu District , Dong Nai .

 

In 5/ 2011, the Technical Centre for Standards and Quality has awarded 3 GlobalGAP certification and VietGAP Tan Trieu grapefruit growers . In which 5 households cultivated area of ​​6.7 ha and 11 GlobalGAP certified growers VietGAP 3.1 hectares .

 

The advantage of this technology in agriculture is to create new varieties of good quality , high output . And help farmers better preservation of agricultural products after harvest .

 

According to the assessment , the application of nuclear technology in the agricultural production process is a new type , however experts believe that nuclear energy is the key to the agricultural sector in the country can not reach the mutations in sewing , creating new varieties but also improvement processing , post-harvest storage to meet the technical barriers , bringing agricultural products to foreign countries .

 

Dr. Tran Chi Thanh, Director of the Institute of Atomic Energy , said Vietnam , Dong Nai last time was invested into the field of nuclear technology applications in agricultural production and have obtained satisfactory results concerned . Dong Nai is also developed on an irradiation center located in the Center for Applied Biotechnology in Cam My District . When operational , the center will take on the role of irradiation , to help farmers harvest storage and eliminate pathogens on agricultural products .

 

According to scientists in the field of atomic energy , the initial success in agricultural production towards high technology applied through cooperation between Dong Nai Department of Science and Technology , Nuclear Research Centre Dalat Research Center and the Southeast fruit over time has brought positive results , this will be the new direction for our country's agricultural sector in the future .
