Manufacturing the world's lightest armor from coconut fiber

Malaysia will produce bullet-proof armor for the world's lightest, thanks in part made from coconut fiber, the invention of the Technical University of Malaysia (UTeM) in Malacca.

This project is at a stage, and is one of 15 projects under the program Business Opportunities Innovation (IBOS) of the Government of Malaysia. Ridhuan Mohd Noor Md, CEO Tembusu Resources Bhd company, said he has been fascinated by the invention of UTeM as materials to produce armor will cover 30% of coconut fiber. School UTeM spent 2 years researching manufacturing bulletproof vests made from coconut fiber, and mass production is expected to begin in the next 6 months.

 Factory armor from coconut fiber with an initial capital of 16 million RM (over 5.2 million), will employ about 150 workers. According Ridhuan goal of Tembusu Resources Bhd is targeting security personnel and law enforcement forces in the country, also plans to export this armor into the Asian market.
