High cashew prices but limited supply

Update: 5/8/2014

The cashew export prices of Vietnam are constantly increasing, at more than 600-700 USD/ton compared to the same period last year. Unfortunately, the cashew supply is still limited.

According to the Vietnam Cashew Association (Vinacas), over the past few days, the export prices of Vietnam's cashew nuts continued to increase, now reaching about 7.500-7.600 USD per tonne, a year-to- year increase of 600-700 USD per ton.

Mr. Dang Hoang Giang - Vinacas Secretary General said that the main reason for constantly increasing higher market prices is larger imports from China for making moon cakes in the Middle Autumn Festival. In addition to this many countries in Europe and North America are also preparing to increase cashew purchase for the yea-rend holidays. Thus, the cashew prices are forecast to rise by October 2013. But it is a pity that many businesses have refused orders because of insufficient supply.
