Essential Oil extraction techniques

Update: 12/8/2014

The oil extraction methods:

Depending on the material type and condition of the oil in the ingredients (free or combined) that people use different methods to separate them.

The method of separating oil must achieve the following basic requirements:

* Keep the oil obtained with natural flavors initially,

* Processing procedure must be consistent, convenient and fast,

* Must be thorough separation of raw oil, refined oil losses during processing and oil content in the raw material after processing (bagasse) as low as possible,

* The cost of investment in manufacturing is the least.

Based on the requirements mentioned above, people often use the method of oil extraction follows:

* Physicochemical method: distillation and extraction (extraction solvent can evaporate or solvent evaporation)

* Mechanical methods: using mechanical processes to extract oil as pressure, scraping cells.

* The method combines exploitation of oil by a combination of chemical and physical processes and mechanical processes, or biochemical (fermentation) and mechanical, and physical chemistry or biochemistry. For example, in vanilla, essential oils in the form of glucoside links recommended to enzymatic hydrolysis, destroy this link and then use the distillation method (chemical and physical) to obtain oil.
