PANDAN LEAF-SMELL COCONUT (DỪA DỨA)

Pandan leaf-smell coconut is called as “dừa dứa” in Vietnamese.

Highlights of Pandan leaf - smell coconut  is not only its water but the other components of the coconut tree as leaves, flowers, pollen, meat and shell have flavor smell of Pandan plant (from leaves of plant Pandanus amaryllifolius).

It is suitable for fat soil, having pH degrees from 5. After growing about 3 years, Pandan leaf-smell coconut begins to bear fruit. The fruit is small in size (approximately Dua xiem) to medium (such as Dua dau) and large (like Dua ta).

The yield is from 80-140 fruits/tree/year, volume 300-450 ml water. Dua dua has 3 main groups are distinguished by the size of fruits: small, medium and large fruits. The fragrance of the group is inversely proportional to its size, when the fruit is smallest, it get the most fragrant.

Conversely germination rate of the seeds, the biggest fruit get the highest germination rates (80-90%), smallest fruit get the lowest percentage germination (from 10-20%).
