Benefits of Anchovy

Anchovies are a small, oily fish prevalent in the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific oceans.  Anchovies is not only an ingredient to making fish sauce, it is also evaluated that have many benefits for health.

Low in Calories

One serving of anchovies is 20 grams or about five fish. While this is a decent amount of food, it is only 42 calories per serving.

This is much lower than other servings of meat, which in hamburgers weight is at about 250 calories. If you are dieting, or just want to lower your caloric intake, then trying anchovies is a great way to do this.

A Good Source of Protein

While anchovies are  low in calories, they don’t skimp on protein. A serving of anchovies has 12% of your daily protein intake. While this may not seem like much compared to other meat sources, it is a good amount for a number of calories that come with it.

Calcium

Anchovies provide a rich source of calcium. A 100-g serving of anchovies can provide up to 147 mg of calcium. Calcium is essential for the development and maintenance of healthy bones and teeth.

Anchovies consist of good amount of proteins and they have long been known to benefit the functioning and efficiency of cell metabolism and connective tissue repair and regrowth. Including anchovies into your diet can be a major boost to your body’s ability to heal itself

Eye Health

Anchovies are rich in vitamin-A, which has been studied intensively as it relates to eye health. High levels of vitamin-A have been linked to reduced appearance of eye degradation and macular degeneration, as well as cataracts, so consume some anchovies and protect your eyes!
