A container with 20 tons of Cavendish bananas that were grown in the South Vietnamese province of Ca Mau using organic methods was transported to Ho Chi Minh City to be sent to Dubai.

 

This was the fifth fruit container with Camau Bananas branded fruits exported to Dubai, one of the seven cities of the United Arab Emirates, in a month.

 

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam's banana exports have increased significantly in recent years, with demands from South Korea, Japan, Russia, and European countries.

 

The country can export several hundreds of tons of this fruit every day, added the same source.

 

Vietnamese bananas are sold at Japanese supermarket chains Donkijote and AEON, as the quality of this agricultural product meets the requirements of one of the most demanding markets in the world.

 

According to experts, Japan consumes about one million tons of bananas each year, 85 percent of which are imported from the Philippines.

 

However, Japanese companies want to diversify providers and positively value the quality and affordable price of Vietnamese bananas.

 

The South Korean market has similar but softer requirements than Japan and, if Vietnamese bananas can conquer Japanese customers, they will also satisfy South Korean consumers.

 

According to experts, the fruit of the Philippines has a better design, but it can't compete with the Vietnamese banana in terms of quality and price.

 

They said that Vietnam's banana conservation technology still does not meet international standards and that the country had to invest to improve post-harvest treatment and conservation processes.

 

They recommended the government provide preferential policies for banana exporting companies and design large banana areas.

 

They also suggested companies modernize technologies to increase their banana production and improve their designs to attract more consumers.
