THE EXPORT MARKET FOR VIETNAMES LEMONSUpdate: 3/12/2019
THE EXPORT MARKET FOR VIETNAMES LEMONS
The main export market for Vietnamese lemons is the Middle East (Dubai in particular), which accounts for 60-70% of the total export volume of lemons currently exported. Dubai has a large seaport Jebel Ali and the state's extremely preferential tariff policy should quickly become the focal point for distribution to neighboring countries in the form of "temporary import, re-export". Most importantly, Dubai is a relatively easy-to-use market, requiring no product certification (GlobalGap, VietGap, HAAC, etc.) as other markets. The most important factor for them is price.
Second market is Singapore market accounts for about 15-20%. This can be said is the perennial market of Vietnamese lemon seed. They require higher quality standards than Dubai, the price is usually also much better. But consumption is limited. Their concern is the quality standard, the size of the fruit.
And finally, Thailand accounts for 10-15% of the total land exported through Cambodia through Cambodia. Thailand is a seedless lemon-free country and exports more than Vietnam in terms of quantity, price and reputation. Every year, in the dry season (fruits), they often buy in Vietnam to make up for the shortfall in Thailand.
The remaining 5-10% are exported to other markets such as USA, Canada, Russia, Europe,
