Doctors use crab shells to produce medicine

Update: 5/18/2013

A research institute in central Vietnam has recently successfully produced medicine to treat obesity and rheumatism with natural ingredients extracted from crab shells.

Dr. Le Van Hiep, director of the National Institute of Vaccines and Biological Substances (IVAC), and his colleagues announced the success of their project.

Chitosan capsules for obesity and Glucosamine capsules for rheumatism can be used for a long time as they are made of natural ingredients, said Dr. Hiep.

The institute is now seeking permission to distribute the medicines.
