LYCHEE

Lychee is a tropical and subtropical fruit tree native to southern China, Taiwan and Southeast Asia, and now cultivated in many parts of the world.

In structure, the fruit is a drupe; oval, heart-shaped or nearly round, measures about 3 to 5 cm long and 3 cm in diameter and weigh about 10 g. Its outer skin is rough leathery rind or peel, featuring pink color. Its peel can be detached easily in the ripe berries. The fruit flesh which is aril is white.

Lychee has a sweet taste and fragrant flavor. The fruits could be eaten raw or could be added to desserts, ice creams, jams, jellies, sorbets, syrups and sauces.
