Export of animal feed

Update: 10/23/2017
Experts in feed industry said that the level of production of this product in Vietnam has reached a high level in the region, can completely become a processing center to export products to countries in the region.

Importing corn, selling feed

In the first 10 months of this year, according to MARD, Vietnam has spent nearly US $ 3 billion to import feed and raw materials, including more than 7 million tons of maize and 1.3 million tons of soybeans to serve the needs of the industry. Livestock industry is growing strongly today.

According to this source, there are over 200 domestic enterprises involved in the production of feeds for cattle, poultry and seafood ...

Not only manufacturing and supplying products for the domestic market, some companies in this field also produce "made in Vietnam" products to other countries.
Having returned from a business trip to northern India, Le Thanh Anh, the managing director of India's De Heus VN Co Ltd, is currently exporting products to regional markets such as Cambodia. , Myanmar, Philippines, Bangladesh and Indonesia) - said that although the potential for livestock development in India is assessed, it still prefers the markets in Southeast Asia.

According to Anh, it is expected in 2016 De Heus Vietnam to export about 85,000 tons of feed ingredients and will increase in the coming time.

According to Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VFA), data from customs has recorded the export of feeds from Vietnam in the last 4-5 years. From the beginning of the year to the middle of November this year, Vietnam has exported over US $ 500 million of feed and raw materials.

However, most of the orders are temporarily imported for re-export that businesses only borrow VN as transit points for export to go forward, especially to the Chinese market.

Some special orders are also exported by some local companies to Japan and Korea, but not many.

The director of a feed manufacturer in Dong Nai said that this unit has exported TACN to Cambodia two years ago.

Due to the advantage of distance and the industrial animal husbandry industry is also starting to develop while the processing capacity is limited, Cambodia is becoming an important import market for animal feed from Vietnam.
However, according to this position, exporting to distant markets such as Myanmar and India is not easy because of high transportation costs, while Thailand is also a very strong country in the production of feed.

Export expert

Talking with us, Mr. Gabor Fluit - Director of Asia De Heus Group (Holland) - said in the coming time, this company will increase exports of processed TACN products in Vietnam to the countries in the region.

With countries that are too far away from India or big trade barriers like Indonesia, they will "export experts from Vietnam instead of exporting their products".

According to Gabor Fluit, after only eight years of presence in Vietnam, De Heus Vietnam has 7 factories in all three regions in the country with 1 million tons of feed per year. It is the center of corporate development in Asia.

As planned, De Heus Vietnam will export its products to new markets to assess demand, then decide whether to continue exporting or investing in plant construction.

"If the produce is not good, the ranchers will recognize it and they will not use it. But if there are no excellent people can not bring good products to many consumers, "- said Gabor.

According to Gabor, not only the production capacity of Vietnam's industry has reached the regional scale, but even the quality of human resources in this sector in Vietnam is also high compared to the general level.

In fact, with Vietnam's harsh competition environment, senior staffs and HR professionals in Vietnam have more competitive advantages over foreign workers.

"Instead of bringing experts to Vietnam, the most senior positions in the business are Vietnamese," said Mr. Gabor.

Meanwhile, Le Thanh Anh said that in any market must understand the distribution system and local people to sell the product.

"Vietnam is not only a place to import animal feeds, but also has the potential to become a country of export of industrial feeds," Anh said.
