Lack of buyers for onions in Soc Trang province, Vietnam.

Update: 3/29/2013

Vinh Chau town, Soc Trang province is considered as "onion capital" in Mekong Delta, Vietnam, with planting area about 5 - 7 thousands ha annually, total supply to markets  is more than 150 thousand tons / year.

Recently, onion growers in Vinh Chau town were glad when their main product was certificated to reach Global GAP standards.

But that joy didn't last long, now hundreds of farmers here get sorrow  because onions are so cheap but there're still not many  buyers.
Once talking about Vinh Chau town, people think of onions with delicious unique, eye-catching colors, and even Vinh Chau onions is allowed to be exported to some difficult markets such as: Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, India ...

but it's sad that since so many years ago, farmers've still had to face with that fluctuation again and again.
