Tapioca pellets is a high quality energy supplement, with similar starch content to maize or wheat (65- 70%), but it is low in protein and not as palatable. It is suitable for year-round feeding to dairy cows when be used as an energy supplement. But more typically, it is an ideal feed in early spring, when pasture protein levels are high. Tapioca is well known for more NFE and starch and less protein, fiber and ash content. It has a high content of carbohydrates which are highly digestible. The content of mineral is very low.
