Tra Vinh: Productivity of produce in 2014 increased

In some recent years, thanks to policy of production restructuring, especially rotation of produce in rice field, produce area in the province increased. According to Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in 2014, produce area the province was 55.000 hectares, increased 2,96% in comparison with 2013. Besides, many farmers promoted science-technology application and use new seed, so output and productivity of produce increased. 

 

 

Specifically, corn output reached 29,66 thousand tons, increased 4,17%; cassava output reached 16,73 thousand tons, increased 0,98%; sugarcane output reached 715,83 thousand tons, increased 0,52%; peanut output reached 23,49 thousand tons, increased 5,46%; vegetable reached 658,15 thousand tons, increased 5,28%; bean output reached 1,16 thousand tons, increased 34,12%.


However, due to bad weather and some disease on plant, output of some kinds of produce decreased like sweet potato (24,67 thousand tons, decreased 1,35%), rush (24,59 thousand tons, reduced 6,39%). 

On December, 2014, farmers in the province started sowing produce in Winter-Spring season 2014-2015 on 5,3 thousand hectares, decreased 0,83% in comparison with the same period.
